Walking + Texting = Landing in the Sewer

. Monday, July 13

You gotta wonder...

15 year old Alexa Longueira of Staten Island found out today that it's not a good idea to draft a text message while walking down Victory Blvd.

Longueira fell into an open manhole about the time DEP workers stepped a few feet away to grab an ice cream cone.  She scraped her arms and her back when she fell into the sewer, and managed to climb the 4 feet up and out without trouble.

When the DEP workers saw her climbing out of the manhole, they came running. The girl was checked out at a hospital and released.

As if walking along blind to the world isn't bad enough, her mother said she plans to sue the city - on the grounds of the "gross factor" with the blazing argument that her daughter's sneaker is still in the putrid hole.

Dumb and dumber...

Sounds like something my dad would do. He is often oblivious to what is right in front of him. When driving he looks all around at the scenery. He has had so many wrecks I think my mother lost count.

One day I turned the ceiling fan on in the dining room because the oven was on in the kitchen and was getting the adjacent room hot. He walks in, takes a bit stretch and puts his hand right into the fan blades. He quickly reacts to the pain and loudly asks "Who turned the fan on?"

LOL I do stuff like that now, only I live alone, so I KNOW it was me that turned the fan on! I still ask though, and all my dogs look guilty. LOL

LOL I personally know someone who did! and it was by sunset so there were almost no people around to help her get out. But her shouting did catch attention...
